If We’re Already Forgiven, What Happens On Judgment Day For The Believer?
Great question. If we're already forgiven (and the Bible says we are as Believers) then what happens on Judgment Day? What are all the verses talking about where Believers will still go through a Judgment on that
If we’re already forgiven (and the Bible says we are as Believers) then what happens on Judgment Day?
What are all the verses talking about where Believers will still go through a Judgment on that day?
First, let’s look at what the verses say….and it’s more than just a few stray references.
Take a look:
1 Corinthians 4:55 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
1 Corinthians 11:3131 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.
2 Corinthians 5:1010 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
2 Peter 2:44 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
Acts 17:3131 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
Ecclesiastes 12:1414 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
Hebrews 9:2727 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
John 12:4848 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.
Matthew 12:3636 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.
Matthew 24:3636 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father.
Psalm 50:44 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:
Psalm 96:1313 Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.
Revelation 21:44 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Romans 2:1616 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
Ezekiel 7:7-87 Doom has come upon you, upon you who dwell in the land. The time has come! The day is near! There is panic, not joy, on the mountains. 8 I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.
Revelation 20:11-1511 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
