I love Isaiah 41:10.

It’s always been a favorite verse of mine.

I love how it displays God’s majesty and power.

I love how it tells us to not be afraid!

Those two things go hand-in-hand.

We are not supposed to live this life afraid of our own shadow.

We’re supposed to live with confidence and boldness!

In fact, Proverbs 28:1 says we’re supposed to live as bold as lions!

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Why?

Not because of our own might or greatness, but because of the God we follow!

Because he lives in us.

Because we are the Body of Christ, his physical representatives here on this Earth in this particular period of time.

And so I’ve always loved that verse, but especially the NASB version:

Don’t fear.

Don’t anxiously look about.

Look to God.

He will strengthen you and uphold you…..and then comes the end part….”with My Righteous right hand.”

Have you ever wondered what that means?

Turns out “Righteous Right Hand” is a phrase that appear a LOT in scripture!

Take a look:

Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. Psalm 48:10

Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the Lord does valiantly, the right hand of the Lord exalts, the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!” Psalm 118:15-16

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Is 41:10

Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. Exodus 15:6

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me, and your gentleness made me great. Psalm 18:35

Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Psalm 20:6

So what does it mean?

Now for the kicker, from Colossians 3:1, where Paul writes this:

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

There you go!

It’s so obvious, but I’d never put it together before.

We all know Jesus sits at God’s right hand (the mystery of the Trinity).

So every time you see that phrase, YHWH is literally saying that he will strengthen and uphold us through Jesus!

Amazing stuff!
