This is the best teaching on healing I have ever heard.

Ok, it’s tough to pick just ONE Dan Mohler message on healing, because they are all so good!  But if I had to pick one, this one rises to the top of the list.  Dan’s VIDEO message at the bottom of this article.

Does God heal today?  The answer is absolutely yes!  Despite what some “cessationists” claim, that God stopped healing with the last apostle, that’s simply not true.  We so often make new doctrines based on our experiences.  If we pray for someone and they’re not healed, we come up with ideas like “God is sovereign, and he heals some but not others.”  Or “You know, we can’t always know God’s will.”  Or “God has a bigger plan.”  Or “God gave them that sickness to grow them into something deeper.”  Or “It wasn’t their time to be healed.”  Or “they must have something in their lives keeping them from being healed.”  Then we put them all together and write a book called 39 Reasons Why God Doesn’t Heal.

We need to stop writing those books!  Jesus didn’t have those books in his pocket when he was on the Earth.  Jesus kept it simple, he did what he saw the Father doing.  He said what he heard the Father saying.  For any sickness on the Earth today, let me ask you a question.  If Jesus was walking the Earth today and prayed for that person, would they be healed?  Ever one of us would say yes!  So is it God’s will to heal?  Yes!

Folks, God doesn’t subcontract out the Devil.  Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord!  He came to bring us life, and life to the full!  When you see things being stolen, killed and destroyed that comes from one person.  The Thief!  Far too often we attribute to God what is caused by the Devil.  No, God didn’t allow you to break your leg so you could “slow down” a little bit.  If he wanted you to slow down, he’d talk to you and tell you that, he doesn’t need to break your leg.  But we come up with all these little sayings and excuses to make ourselves feel better.

People will look at all of that and say, sure, that was Jesus.  Jesus prayed and they were healed.  But that’s not for us.  I’m not Jesus.  Well you should be!  He lives in you, doesn’t he?  Here’s what Jesus told his disciples to do in Matthew 10:7-8:

And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

That’s pretty clear!  Go and preach the Word and heal the sick!  And here’s something that also trips some people up.  It says “go heal the sick”.  YOU do it!  We can’t do anything on our own, it’s Christ in us that does all the work, but yet the paradox is that Jesus still calls us to go and do it!  There’s something that God loves about working through us!  He tells us to go.  That’s our part.  Go.  Lay your hands on someone that’s sick.  Bring faith.  That’s our part.  After that, it’s Christ IN us, the Hope of Glory, that brings the healing!

And let me tell you what else!  It doesn’t say “pray to God and ask him to heal them.”  Is that ok?  Can we pray to God and ask him to bring healing?  Sure, there’s nothing wrong with that.  But there is something wrong when that’s all we ever do.  When we ourselves don’t see the sick person and go over and speak healing into their body.  The verse says “heal the sick”.  Go do it, God is saying to us.

Jesus tells us to speak to the mountain and it will be moved (Matthew 17:20).  He doesn’t say, “pray to God and ask him to move the mountain.”  He says YOU do it!  YOU speak to the mountain.  YOU take authority over the mountain.  And watch!  It will be moved!

Many people will see that verse and they’ll say, he was talking to his disciples but that’s not for us today.  Respectfully, you just don’t know what your Bible says!  Matthew 28:18-20:

18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

This is it folks!  The entire package, summarized in three verses.  All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Jesus.  He gives that authority to the disciples and then he sets it up to continue for every generation until he returns!  Look: he says “teach them to observe ALL that I have commanded you”.   So if Jesus told his disciples something, he says now you teach the next generation!  And so on, and so on!

And what kind of things did Jesus teach his disciples.  Things like this, in Matthew 10:1:

Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

He gave them authority to heal every disease!  To drive out all impure spirits.  That looks pretty big to me!

It’s the prayer of faith that heals the sick.  And faith works through love.  It’s ultimately God’s love for people, flowing through us, and our faith in Him, that when you put that all together and we step out in that faith and love that the kingdom breaks in!

Other people will hear this and they’ll say “you’re just seeking signs and wonders.  You should seek the Giver of the gifts, not the gifts.”  We’re not seeking anything other than Jesus!  He commands us to pray for the sick, so we do it.  The Word says these signs follow those who believe.  Mark 16:17-18:

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they  will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

What a list!  We’re not chasing after these signs.  It’s the reverse!  We seek Him!  We follow love.  And these signs follow us who believe!

And one more thing before we watch Dan’s amazing message.  Yes, there is a place for God to heal through doctors, or through modern science.  And yes, there is an ultimate healing for all of us in eternal life.  But far too often I see the church fall back on those as the norm!  Folks, I have nothing against science or doctors.  We are grateful for all the tremendous people in the medical field, and they do an incredible service for people.  But that’s not all Jesus was talking about when he said to go heal the sick!  He wasn’t saying “pray to the Father and ask for wisdom for your doctors.  Pray and ask that God would guide the surgeon’s hand in the surgery.”  Have you heard those before?  Too often!  There’s nothing wrong with them, but I am living and believing for a life where we see a person who needs surgery and we lay hands on them and they are healed to the point where they don’t NEED the surgery!

We see it all through our lives.  I was at the store yesterday and passing through the pharmacy section.  They had a sign up:  “Everything you need for common illnesses.”  Common?  We even call it the “common cold”.  It should be uncommon amongst us!  We’re called to speak to the cold and it will be moved, we’re not supposed to become so used to it that it becomes common!  Or how about “flu season”.  Everyone just expects that for certain months out of the year, the flu is going around.  You’ll probably get it, after all it’s flu season!  No!  The kingdom of God lives in us!  There is no “flu season” in Heaven!

Ok, enough from us, listen to this INCREDIBLE message from Pastor Dan Mohler, and if you are blessed by it, please share share share!
