They say life tends to make a way!
I love this story.
Meet Dexter. Newborn.
This is a picture right after he was born. Fresh. And he came out holding this in his hand.
What is it?
This is an IUS coil. A contraceptive device that is said to be 99.9% effective in preventing pregnancy.
Don’t tell that to Dexter’s parents. Because he just happens to be the 0.1%!
Here’s more of the story, from Unilad:
The Mirena coil works by being inserted into the womb and releasing a progestogen hormone which thickens the mucus from your cervix, making it difficult for sperm to move through and reach an egg, reports the Metro.
This baby’s daddy quite clearly has super sperm, as the little fella known as Dexter came into the world just fine. In fact, he even brought a present along with him – the IUS coil.
Dexter’s mum, Lucy Hellein, from Texas, discovered she was pregnant in December despite being fitted with the implant four months earlier.
Last week, weighing in at 9lbs 1oz, Dexter was born by C-section. The bizarre birth led Lucy to post to Facebook with the caption ‘Mirena fail’.
As you can probably imagine the post has since been shared over 70,000 times.
Although Dexter was unplanned, his mother told the Metro she has absolutely no regrets.
Dexter was definitely meant to be. His original due date was May 4 and even the doctor said ‘the force was strong with this one’.
Although he wasn’t planned, my family and I feel incredibly blessed.
Have a good life Dexter you absolute trooper!
